5 Must-Have Apps for Photographers

From fitness tracking and photo editing, to online banking and meditating. Is there anything our smartphones can’t help us do? No one can deny just how easier this technological advancement has made our lives. Trust us, if you can think of it, then there’s an app for it (or so it seems)!
Today we’ll be concentrating on these humble apps, focusing on the 5 must-have apps for photographers in particular. Many of these are premium (and therefore paid) applications, but trust us – they’re what you’d expect from the best of the best.

ProCamera ($10)

Let’s face it, even the latest version of your smart phone still has a camera that is (understandably) quite primitive when compared to your favorite DSLR. Don’t get us wrong – phone cameras have come a very long way (and continue to do so), but as a photographer, you’re probably craving greater control.
This is where the ProCamera app comes in, as it turns your phone into a handy DSLR. You can customize exposure time, tint, ISO sensitivity, and more, plus it even has a camera function optimized for night shooting. Say goodbye to blurry and dark night scenes! Halide ($8)

Similar to ProCamera, Halide is a paid app that boosts your phone’s photo-taking abilities and turns it into something that tries to mimic a DSLR. If you’re a beginner photographer, you might like to start shooting in automatic mode, while seasoned professionals will enjoy being able to work in manual mode, adjusting controls for ISO, white balance, and shutter speed.
While free apps are convenient and easy on the purse strings, it sometimes helps to pay a bit more for an app such as Halide (or ProCamera) that lets you do what you do best with ease. That is, capturing stunning photos on-the-go.

Filmborn (free)

While the previous two apps focus on helping you capture clear and crisp photos as though you used a DSLR, Filmborndoes quite the opposite (in a really good way). You see, the app allows you to take a photo on your phone before turning it into something that looks like it was captured on a vintage film camera. Your photos become light, airy, nostalgic, and unique. We love editing landscapes and cityscapes with this app, as they suddenly look like they’ve been captured on one of our favorite analog cameras. Easy Release ($10)

As a photographer, you will no doubt understand the importance of model releases. Perhaps you use them on a regular basis, or you might be starting out in the industry, ready to begin embracing these necessary forms. Whichever your situation, you’ll certainly benefit from Easy Release. This app has contracts available in 13 different languages, making it very useful when traveling abroad! It also comes pre-bundled with industry standard model and property releases that are currently in use by leading photo agencies such as Getty Images, Alamy and more.
The beauty of this app is that it lets you collect all the data and signatures you need right on your iPhone, before mailing a PDF and JPEG of the release straight to you. How good is that? You’ll never be without a model release on-the-spot again!

Posing App ($5)

Have you ever been on a photo shoot, only to run out of pose ideas halfway through? It might not happen to the pros, but for those starting out in the industry, it isn’t uncommon. Rather than pausing the shoot or leaving your models feeling awkward without direction (particularly if they too are just starting out), you can simply open Posing App to gain some quick and effective posing ideas.
The app has posing ideas for everyone from couples to kids and even includes sketches of the pose to help you explain it to your models with ease. We all know that a photo shoot submission is more likely to be accepted by a publication if it involves a wide range of poses and shots, so don’t limit yourself and your models!   I have a handful of different photo editing apps on my phone. I don’t always  edit my photos , but when I decide I want to add a little pizazz, I have a lot of ways to do that. I’m not ashamed to admit that AT ALL. There is literally nobody alive who doesn’t like to  look good in a photo . How to Create Realistic Shadows for Product Photography in Photoshop
