Today, August 19, is World Photography Day.
But since everyday is basically a ‘pics or it didn’t happen’ kind of day, we asked some iPhone photographers from around the world to help us, help you with your urban ‘gram game.
After all, there’s a reason the iPhone is the most used camera in the world.
So from Singapore to San Francisco, here are some of their favourite urban/cityscape pics alongside a few tips that will have you capturing spectacular shots of your own local landscape in no time.

Tips:
  • Find reflections in your surroundings, using reflections can create an entirely new dynamic to your images. Get creative and use puddles, building/car windows or any reflective surface. Turn/flip your phone so the camera lens is closest to the reflective surface – this will create the largest reflection.
  • Use the side buttons on iPhone to take a photo, this will give you a firm/safe grip on your phone while using it with one hand.
  • Shoot in different weather conditions. Whether it be rain, snow, sunset, or sunrise, shooting during these times will make your images really stand out.

  • In the iPhone camera app manually adjust exposure by tapping the screen and sliding up or down.  This helps find the ideal brightness to best preserve the scene’s details and colours.
  • Weather conditions can have a dramatic effect on creating the mood of a city scene.  Monitor the forecasts and be open to going on spontaneous shoots when the conditions are just right.

  I have a handful of different photo editing apps on my phone. I don’t always  edit my photos , but when I decide I want to add a little pizazz, I have a lot of ways to do that.
